Miscellaneous metals.

The steel between the big pieces: hoppers, decking, shafts, conveyor troughs — and the ladders, cages and platforms that let people work around them.

What it covers

Miscellaneous is the busiest word in a steel shop. One week it's a caged access ladder running up beside a duct; the next it's a handling stand for equipment tires.

This work rarely makes the front page of the drawings. It has to be right anyway — people climb it, lean on it and trust it every shift.

Small word, long list.

A caged ladder at work and a custom handling stand — the category is defined by whatever the plant needs next.
