About us · Sudbury, Ontario

Family owned. Sudbury built.

C & A Steel is a family owned and operated company, in operation since 1971. Through hard work, dedication and integrity it has grown — and it keeps growing. The trade never changed: steel, fabricated right.

The line so far

From 1971 to the Canada Games.

Fifty-plus years is a long run for a family shop. The short version, welded into four dates.

  1. The shop opens

A family steel shop starts up in Sudbury — family owned and operated from the first day, and still.

  2. The name on the papers

The company reincorporates as C & A Steel (1983) Ltd. The (1983) has been part of the name ever since.

  3. The big one

More than 1,000 tonnes of joists, trusses, deck and structural steel for the Canada Games Park in the Niagara region — a national project, out of a Sudbury plant.

  4. The second generation

Giovanni Carniel, CEO, and Ellena Hodder, Project Manager/Estimating, run the shop today. Same address, same trade.
